2007 PROGRAM
Wednesday, July 25th through Tuesday, July 30th
small group sessions 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Now in its twentieth year, Henry Hamilton's Vermont Sculling School teaches sculling as a lifetime skill for men and women of all ages.
2007 Program. This season we are offering small-group sculling instruction on Little Hosmer Lake in Craftsbury Common in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. The
2007 schedule offers instruction for all levels. Group lessons (two to four students per instructor) will be held in the mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Private lessons will be available in the afternoons. Students may choose to enroll for any number of days. The usual enrollment is from three to five days.
Beginners join introductory sessions geared to their needs and acquire a foundation of skills permitting them to enjoy the thrill of rowing a single shell safely.
Novices are encouraged to learn in stable open-water type single sculling boats. They quickly gain confidence and a relaxed attitude which helps them learn the body control and bladework required to move into the narrower racing shells. High performance racing shells are available for more experienced students.
Advanced scullers and serious racers benefit from the intensive instruction and attention to the subtleties of efficient technique.
Our goal is to guide students toward the benefits of fitness and flexibility while we share the exhilaration of their progress toward more efficient and faster sculling.

STAFF
Henry Hamilton has been a successful racing sculler for many years. He has won more than 25 medals in the single in the Head of the Charles, including three firsts. He stroked a National Champion Open Quad and has won numerous medals in World Masters' Championships. He has coached at Columbia University, Christiania Roklub in Norway, Community Rowing in Boston and Maine Rowing Assn.
COACHES
The coaching staff are racing scullers experienced in training rigorously for top level masters racing. Principal coaches are Henry Hamilton, Judy Davis, Al Flanders and Jeff Schafer.
The 2001 racing season was a great one for all of us. At FISA Masters Worlds in Montreal Henry won five Golds, Al and Jeff each won four, and Judy won three.
In his single, Henry won Megunticook Mini Marathon and Head of the 'Scog, was a close second in Green Mt. Head, and was third fastest in Veterans Single in the Head of the Charles.
At Head of the Schuylkill, Henry and Jeff won the Masters 2x, and Henry, Judy, Al, and Sara Hall won the masters mixed quad for the fourth year running.
At Head of the Charles, Al was second by a whisker in his single, and Judy teamed with Sara Hall to win the masters double for her third year running.
In 2002 Henry won two silver medals in the single and a gold in a four at Masters Nationals. Al Flanders won the Grand Masters at Head of the Charles. Judy's back forced her to limit her rowing and she did no racing.
Al and Judy are former students, having learned their sculling from Henry.
In 2003 Henry celebrated the completion of our new boathouse and waged an ambitious racing campaign earning 11 gold medals in ten regattas in four countries.
At the Head of the Charles, Henry again has third fastest time in Veterans Single and Al finished third in Grand Masters. Jeff won gold in the 50+ Masters Eight. Judy's back improved but she still limited her sculling and did no racing.
In 2004 Henry, Al and Jeff competed in several regattas and won several medals: Canadian Henley, US Masters Nationals, FISA Masters, Green Mt. Head, Head of the Charles, and Head of the Schuylkill.
